Richard Grant. Puppy and Dog Trainer and Canine Behaviourist

Richard Grant; personal biography, 36 years experience of working with puppies, dogs and their people.
“We are guardians of animals, not their owners”. This sentiment is at the heart of my puppy and dog training philosophy. I am passionate about giving puppies the best possible start in life, as well as working with dogs and their guardians to re-balance the dynamics in existing relationships. I only use praise, kind and positive reinforcement training methods.
One of the greatest joys is when I see clients smile because the simple technique they have successfully implemented has brought about the desired behaviour in their dog. I love knowing that relationships are improved for the dog, not just the human. I take an holistic approach to training and recognise that not all methods suit all dogs. I pride myself on being able to tailor solutions to specific behaviour challenges of individual dogs and people.

I have worked with thousands of people, puppies and dogs since I began training and I feel as if I have an extended family of pups, dogs and their guardians all over the UK. I never tire of seeing people who are proud of their happy puppies and dogs.

Awards and recognition:  I am proud to write that K9 Help won the ‘Best Customer Service’ award at the Hammersmith and Fulham Brilliant Business Awards 2019/20, plus finalists and runners-up, Outstanding Entrepreneur’ and Best Fulham business’ which according to this public vote makes us, Hammersmith and Fulham’s Favourite Puppy and Dog Training Organisation’.

Organisations and charities. I provide training, advice and help for clients of a number of Veterinary Practices in London and the South of England. In addition, I work closely when asked with the R.S.P.C.A. as well as dogs and people from other rescue societies and shelters, on a pro bono or a reduced fee basis. In addition to UK based dog charities etc. I have been fortunate to work on a voluntary basis with the Humane Society of the United States, (H.S.U.S.) in the past.

I am a regular contributor on BBC Radio Wiltshire and the BBC across the south of England.  I am privileged to judge at the annual All Saints Church dog show to help raise funds for the church and community.

Qualifications and personal development. I am a Master Trainer, Guild of Dog Trainers, as well as a fully qualified member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (1070) and the Animal Behaviour Training Council; three of the United Kingdom’s leading positive reinforcement-based puppy and dog training organisations.

I keep myself updated with new ideas, methods and thinking, by reading, attending seminars and listening carefully to what others have to say.  In addition, when possible, I attend animal welfare conferences and various professionally related training and development seminars and courses.
